The Greatest Sales “Pitch” Ever
For some people, selling is not much of a challenge; they just have that natural ability to sell, they have found a formula that works for them and they run with it. For a lot of others we have to learn to promote ourselves with the perfect pitch. When you’re in business, convincing others to trust you can be painstaking at times. Let me say this, not everyone is going to cater to you or what you have to offer, but take into consideration the many people who will. I know, we’re not made of stone, it does hurt when you’re being turned down. You can overcome this with a positive attitude, and a hopeful expectation.
So, what is the perfect pitch? What is the one thing that I can say and do which will make what I have attractive? If you will indulge me, I would like to present to some and expound on for others. It is the greatest sales “pitch” ever, even in our technology driven society, it carries an archaic context, and yet it still manages to win customers, in our contemporary age.
It’s John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believe in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Are you still with me? cool! Yes ladies and gentlemen, the greatest sales pitch is in the Bible. It is, I believe the greatest sales pitch ever. I know it is, because it’s used practically all over the world; you see it on billboards, bumper stickers, buttons, t-shirts, and caps, and more. It is the most popular scripture (pitch) in the Bible. Millions have believed, on account of this pitch being made.
As for your own particular business or situation, it would be challenging for me to tell you exactly what to say, but what I want to do is share some guiding principles that can help you create the perfect sales pitch. There are four initial things you need to consider, when crafting your sales pitch, and they are Personality, Population, Purpose, and Promise. You should keep these in mind.
First, let’s take a look at Personality. Consider creating a personality or personalities for your pitch, this will bring character to your pitch. What’s important also is to be as original as you can, what is it about your product that help makes it stand out, and whatever that is, make sure your pitch fits, because you don’t want your personality saying and doing things that does not match your pitch. A lot of companies or organizations can’t afford to hire a celebrity to promote their product/brand. A personality is strongly suggested, if it’s not you, then it has to be someone that will represent your brand. When you look at John 3:16 the personalities we see is God, and His Son Jesus. Jesus is the personality, God has Jesus as the face of the brand, what is the brand? The brand is Kingdom living/eternal life. What kind of experience you want the potentials to have every time they see your pitch or personality? When you think about Icy Hot, you think about Shaquille O’Neal, not that I am putting Shaq and Jesus on the same plane, but only pointing out that a personality helps to sell your product.
Secondly, you must consider the Population or your target audience. “One man builds a car, another man builds a road, whatever God has called you to build, it’s design will always take your target audience from one place to another.” When you are creating your sales pitch, give thought to who you want to attract and establish accordingly. What are you saying to them? You should consider words or phrases that will make them feel as if they will be transformed, transported, and be transcended to a new experience. You have to make them feel like you are in touch with there greatest need.
Third, you must consider the Purpose, how can I build a statement that will show a good reason for the potential to follow. In John 3:16 it says “…should not perish…” my reason, my purpose for doing this is for the customer not to perish. So the question to ask yourself is why should someone buy from you? In other words, how by doing this makes my life better? When creating your pitch think about adding words or phrases that gives a strong yet caring approach. For example “You’ve tried the rest, now try the best” I know this is a simple example, but you get the picture.
Fourth, you must consider the Promise; every pitch should come with a promise. As an influencer you will learn, if you haven’t already, that it’s important you keep your word; so when you make a promise, keep it. In John 3:16 it says “…but have everlasting life”… when you script your pitch, be sure to include a promise, not one of falsehood, but something you can actually fulfill. Your promise should not be some outlandish exaggeration to draw attention, this is risky, as those who are less than satisfied will not hesitate to dispel your promise. Walmart uses the word “Always” this is a promise, they’re saying you can always find low prices. Don’t make your promise bigger than what you can deliver. Just because Wal Mart says “Always” doesn’t mean you have to say “Always” perhaps your promise is “Unbeatable Prices.”
What I am about to share is the emotional and compassionate side of creating the perfect “sales” pitch, if we practice these we’ll discover even more about ourselves, things we had not yet paid attention to. In the text you notice three major actions that God used to help established the perfect pitch, and they are Loving, Giving, and Believing. If these are practiced consistently, it can change your approach and your culture. One of the ways you can tell that you on the right road is when those who you have relationships with are convinced that it’s becoming a great benefit to their lives. Lets take a look at these powerful attributes.
Loving: The first key to creating the perfect pitch is love. If you can’t learn to practice this, then the other will not matter. You have to be passionate about what you are called to build. Our being successful at any level has a lot to do with love. We must understand that love was here before time. Love existed before man was formed from the earth. Don’t be fooled into thinking that your gift will compensate for your lack of love; being successful requires the qualities of love to be on display. 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 If I speak with the tongues of men and become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2) If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and If I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. Success Is not about recognition, but it’s about relationships. If you want success, use your love, love will get you into the right company and then you can allow your gift to shine. Consider this when you are forming your pitch. With this principle you can work toward living in the land of no lack, because when you love at another level, people will be drawn to you. God will place the right people in your pathway and these people will administer accordingly. They are not drawn to you because they love you, but because you love them.
Giving: The next key to being successful at any level is giving. Sometimes your giving will require you to give the most valuable thing you have. What is the most valuable thing we have? It is us, our precious lives. Our life is the most valuable thing we have, and if you can’t give it, you can’t be effective in your particular area of interest. You will discover you will have to push yourself, and make the necessary sacrifices in order to prevail. It will take extra time and energy to make things happen. But you can do it!
Believing: The next key to establishing or living out your perfect pitch is the action of belief. Don’t let anyone or anything stop you from believing. You already have something to start with and that is your measure of faith. We know we’re using it because we believe in things that have not manifested yet. There are many who say they will not believe until they actually see it with their physical eyes. As an influencer or business owner you have to see beyond. You have to believe! As you grow in your belief in your product, you’ll notice others will grow with you.
If you practice loving your cause, giving to your cause, and believing in your cause, then you can have whatever your vision calls for. Which should be in the framework of your sales pitch. I hope this helps.
